Getting Deep at Red Rocks w/ No Redemption [Event Review]

In the midst of last month, on May 11th Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater got hit with a tour like never before. Bringing proper deep house and the best of vibes, the No Redemption tour with Tchami x Malaa brought house lovers musical paradise at the revered amphitheater. Deep house wasn’t the only genre though, electro house, drum and bass, and even some future bass bounced off the rocks walls from supporting acts; Mercer, Justin Martin and K?D.

Mercer, a French producer on the same record label as Malaa; Confession, (also rumored to be Malaa, but who is Malaa?..) kicked off the night with a classy deep house and the right vibes that brought the crowd to a groove as the sun started to set behind the mountains. As that happened, a fog storm rolled in that decided to stay the whole night, which added an extra euphoric feel to the already ecstatic show. Justin Martin, a Dirtybird, followed Mercer up with some of the unique styles of deep house music. He had broken the barrier a couple of times and graced the melodies of Drum n Bass that brought a fresh change up to the Rocks. Drawing on the energy from the previous performance, K?D executed the amped-up energy perfectly as he brought out the feels with future bass, but kept it raunchy where he played intense electro house with some insanely heavy bass.

This led perfectly into the headlining act and the end of this several month-long tour. No Redemption had gone from coast to coast hitting many cities in between and to be ending it at the world-renowned Red Rocks, it was destined to be an absolute party. The two French producers, Tchami and Malaa, took the crowd into a frenzy of gnarly deep house, vivid colors, epic lasers that didn’t even need smoke cannons because of the dense fog, and brilliant stage production. As Mercer was rumored to be Malaa, another rumor was that Tchami is Malaa too, but with the tour showcasing a b2b with Tchami and Malaa, that canceled speculation right away. Malaa has released “Paris ’96”, among many other releases, this suggests that he is indeed French. Together, the two represented their heritage and the French properly with impeccable lighting and visual arts. They drew off each other throughout the whole set and would go back and forth with the mixing and the screens would follow, leaving the other in the dark momentarily. This back to back allowed for them to blend their songs into one another flawlessly and when it was a song they both produced, it would be a toss up of keeping it original or changing it up to something nasty. These two definitely kept it fresh and transformed the Rocks into an outdoor club with exquisite production and the best of vibes. A night the attendees, staff, artists and I will feel remember forever.
