One of the most unique, beautiful, wonky, and diverse electronic music producers is back at it again with this VERY highly anticipated sequel to his popular Alchemist album in 2012 that helped skyrocket his music to being heard by people all over the world. None other than the Insanely talented Savant and he just released, Alchemist 2. Celebrating 10 years of the legendary album and to that, Savant has redone the whole album by reworking damn near every song into a practically a new piece of work. The track list from Alchemist to Alchemist 2 is almost fully identical with the exception of a couple songs; the song, ‘Alchemist’ is broken down into two songs instead of being one on the 2nd album. Songs ‘Konomi Kode’, ‘Witchcraft’, and ‘Faceoff’ did not get re-worked, instead new songs fill their place being; ‘Wild Ganja’, ‘Ode to Joy’, and ‘Wildstyle’ (as well as ‘Fat Cat Suite’ which is a new song that didn’t replace any other prior work, but added to the Fat Cat Shuffle.) 
This album has been nothing but absolute heat, amazing soulful production, worldly sounds, and amazing synths and melodies that tie everything together. If you know Savant’s music, you know how instrumental he can get but within a blink of an eye it can go from a classical ethnic feel to some wonky gnarly bass music or into some 16-bit type of music and that is exactly the case on Alchemist 2. To start it off, the first track ‘Mother Earth’ goes straight into his kind of vibe with a jumpy, high energy song that blends his genre and styles together. Followed right up with an amazing re-work on his very popular song, ‘Sky is the Limit’ and with this 2022 modern twist on it, we can see it being a crowd pleaser when played live. The next song, ‘Sledgehammer’ is without a doubt one of our favorites from this album as it showcases his wonky, experiment bass music style. I don’t know how many different sound samples are in this song, but it is truly impressive how many different sounds can be put together and still be oh so groovy. Another of one of our favorites is ‘Wild Ganja ft EBN’ (of course right, The Chronic liking Wild Ganja…) but seriously, how this song goes from a theatrical build up into a proper dubstep drop with immaculate hints of his Savant sounds scattered throughout the bass is truly a spectacle of top tier music production. Of course the ‘Fat Cat Shuffle’ made our list too because, well, what Savant did to this chonker of a song is abolustely… CHONKERS! The way he drops the bass and incorporates the meows and cat sounds is truly genius and we can see this song being an absolute hit in the clubs and at festivals all over the world. ‘Black Magic’ and ‘No Time for Pussy’ are also highly notable as some of our favorite tracks from this album. The way he drops it is just so out of the box thinking and we absolutely love how you go for an unexpected journey and that you can’t predict what will be coming next.
There are a solid handful of songs on this album that are in the BPM range of house music and we absolutely love the groove that he has to these. If you dig house, check out ‘Dancer in the Dark’, ‘Bananonymous’, ‘Manslaughter’, and the ‘Beginning is near’. For those who love funky music, ‘Redemption,’ ‘Ode to Joy’ and ‘Paradisco’ are some pieces of work that embody that while still having that wonky Savant vibe. All in all, this album is an absolute banger and quite possibly on our list for one of the best pieces of work released this year.
