Sonic Bloom Artist Highlight: CloZee

Sonic Bloom goes through many record labels that they pull musicians off of to book their artists. One record label in particular, Gravitas Recordings, has been providing some of the best bass, psy, glitch, and experimental electronic music producers in our scene! For years Sonic Bloom has been booking amazing artists off this label. This year, they booked one artist that they are bringing back for a must see second performance, CloZee. CloZee (Chloé) was born in Toulouse, France and it is there that she got her start. She started playing guitar for several years before she started producing electronic music at the age of 16. The electronic music that inspired her to start producing her own were artists such as; Bonobo, The Widdler, edIT, and Amon Tobin. (Bonobo and The Widdler will also be at Sonic Bloom.) Having the genre range wide in her inspirations has lead her to producing a completely original and emotional style of electronic music. She has a beautiful combination of Psy-bass with world sounds in it and she brings it all together for a glitchy, spiritual, cinematic sound. Having this originality and creativity has landed her an award in 2014 for Best International Newcomer of 2013 at the UK Glitch-Hop Award and many special performances over the years. Check out a mix she put out that I think properly showcases her talent.

CloZee Live Performance

Last year was her first year performing at Sonic Bloom and it was a ravishing set! Her sounds match the vibe that Sonic Bloom projects. The world sounds are just so comforting to hear and seeing her perform at the hummingbird stage was such a delight. But this is the year that CloZee is going to be one of the most talked about sets at Bloom. She has risen in popularity in Colorado since her performance at Sonic Bloom. Since then, she has performed at a couple of events in Colorado that are associated with Sonic Bloom called Sonic Blossom in October of 2015 and the Unified Field (which is a Sonic Bloom Pre-party,) that happened on April 30th a couple weeks ago. With her gaining popularity in Colorado, her set at Sonic Bloom will be a rather energetic and euphoric performance. I highly recommend this being one of your top sets to see while attending Sonic Bloom.

CloZee is also performing in the unique and captivating Sonic Bloom Orchestra. This orchestra is completely original and unique to Sonic Bloom as they pull several musicians together on stage to get down and make some intensely creative and experimental music. The orchestra is composed of many instruments, most known, but in the mix there are some interesting and different instruments that were created by individuals. They will graze multiple genres of electronic music and jam. This years Sonic Bloom Orchestra is absolutely stacked! It will be interesting to see how Chloé mixes into this talented orchestra! Check out the Orchestra lineup: Michael Travis and Jason Hann (Eoto/Members of The String Cheese Incident), Dominic Lalli (Big Gigantic), Adam Deitch and Borahm Lee (Break Science), Jesus Coomes (Lettuce), Aaron Holstein (VibeSquaD), Jamie Janover, Russ Liquid, Dave Watts, Garret Sayers and Joey Porter (The Motet), Dan Schwindt, Lily Fangz, Govinda, CloZee, Vir McCoy, Resunator, and Andrew Block.

CloZee is a wonderful artist to be booked for Sonic Bloom. Not only does her music match the environment and the crowd, but so does her personality. She is an extremely humble and warm hearted person, and you can see her energy radiate on stage every time she performs live. This is an artist that reaches into your soul through music and this matches the vibe of Sonic Bloom impeccably. Make sure to catch both of her performances at Sonic Bloom, and if you haven’t gotten tickets yet, click the link below to get directed to getting tickets!
