Sonic Bloom Artist Highlight: Govinda

Sonic Bloom has a reputable history of booking talented artists, both headliners and supporting acts. The starting years of Sonic Bloom have booked musicians such as: Bassnectar, The Glitch Mob, Big Gigantic, Beats Antique, and of course Eoto and Zilla. Who have been there every year since the beginning. Since then their lineups have grown in size with more days added onto the festival, giving a better opportunity to discover more music. In the recent years they have been booking artists such as: TipperDirtwire, The Funk Hunters, Desert Dwellers, and various members of Pretty Lights Music like Michal Menert, Supervision, and Break Science. This year they are making the lineup blossom with the return of Govinda for his 3rd performance. Each year seems to out do the last as they continuously improve with their lineups by booking musicians that are on the rise and re-booking artists that left Sonic Bloom mesmerized with previous performances. Check out their current 2016 Sonic Bloom line up below.  This is including their recent announcement of phase two artist’s, be on the look out for phase three coming in May with another headliner to be announced!

Sonic Bloom 2016 P:2

Based out of Austin, Texas, the live music capitol of the United States, with experience of playing the violin since the age 8, Govinda produces music that has a gnarly combination of violin and sexy psy-bass, or as he calls it “sexy vampire bass.” This style of music is a perfect fit with the vibe of Sonic Bloom. It’s at a tempo that makes you slow down and loosen up. His violin strokes always heighten the energy of the crowd into a remarkable state of trance. That combination is impeccably complimentary to Sonic Bloom’s vibes, spiritually enriching it’s positive environment. Govinda at Sonic Bloom will ultimately be a unique experience that you will not get from any other artist on the line up. Check out his recent album release, Decadence to have a small taste of what is in store for Sonic Bloom.

Govinda’s music is not the only thing that will leave you mesmerized. His extremely talented and “in-sync” fiancée, Jordan Proper, is a phenomenal performance artist that has her skills range from belly-dancing, silk fans, hoops, and fire flow toys such as her specialty item, Dragonstaff. Capturing the moment during Govinda's set @ RE:CREATION 12/11/15Their love for each other blossoms on stage as you can clearly see their devotion towards each other and the music. Her movement on stage is influenced by the flow of water, so that when she performs on stage it is executed incredibly smooth. Not only is her talent top notch but sometimes she shares the stage with other impressive performance artists. The performers she chooses are usually other ladies who are experienced on stage and who know Govinda’s music well enough to flow fluently to it. So far one additional performance artist is confirmed for performing with Jordan on stage for Govinda, and that is Breezy. She performed with them several times before, most recently at a festival similar to Sonic Blooms vibes, Gem and Jam in Tuscon, Arizona. Check out her unique touch that she had to offer when she performed with them last, with the video below, she made belly dancing a little bit more intricate with her fire head-dress. Breezy’s unique style isn’t limited to the fire head-dress, she is also gracefully skilled with using multiple flow toys such as: fire hoops, fans, and dragonstaff, levitation wand, and her specialty flow prop, hula-hoops which include her one of her favorites, Square hoops. (Squoops)

Govinda is a perfect touch to the brilliant line up that Sonic Bloom has composed for their 11th annual gathering at “The Unified Field.” With so many different genres of music on the line-up it is comforting to know that you will have a 95% chance of not hearing the same song twice throughout the whole festival! Govinda always keeps his sets unique and different than the previous. He plays a genuine compilation of his classic tracks and new songs. Most importantly he keeps it all original from playing only his songs. One thing that Sonic Bloom does and is known infamously for, is their “Sonic Bloom Orchestra.” Composed of some of the most talented musicians in the electronic scene, several well known artists come together on stage to perform an epic set and take the crowd away with their impressive skill. The first year that Govinda played at Bloom he was a part of the Orchestra, along with many other talented artists such as Jamie Janover, Tipper, Lafa Taylor, Michael Travis and Jason Hann of Eoto and The String Cheese Incident, and other special musicians. His masterful violin skills matched all of the artist’s unique skills that they had to offer for the orchestra. Sonic Bloom has always picked extraordinary musicians that perform out of this world with their instruments. Each year that passes they get more experience and knowledge with their orchestra and they improve their quality. Last year was breath taking, impressive, and quite different than the year before it. It will be interesting to see who the orchestra will be composed of this year, we will find out in May when the rest of the line-up is released! Check out the only video I could find of the Sonic Bloom 2012 Orchestra with Govinda! Also if you haven’t yet, pick up your tickets to Sonic Bloom, they are on Tier 2 for GA tickets. Last year SOLD OUT and will more then likely sell out again this year! Thank you for reading! See you in the Unified Field!
