One of the worlds greatest natural phenomena’s is coming around to The United States in April of next year. A sensation that has left mankind in awe for centuries, a total solar eclipse. A rare event where the moon cross directly in front of the sun, completely blocking it out except for what seems to be a ring of fire highlighting the rim of the moon. This epic occasion draws in hundreds of thousands if not millions of visitors from all around the world to certain areas along the path of totality and for the Eclipse happening on April 8th 2024, some festival organizers who chase Total Solar Eclipses are coming together to bring forth an epic gathering of music, art, and festivities. Happening from April 5th to the 9th, Texas Eclipse Festival is an amazing collaboration put together by Disco Donnie and Symbiosis Gathering, alongside other festivals from around the world such as; Bass Coast, Origin, Re:Birth, Beloved, and many more. Texas Eclipse Festival has the backings and support to not only make good use of the phenomena, but will be able to properly support the mass amount of people with having more than enough space for activities, production and the crowd. Located in Burnet, Texas, which is a little over an hour away from Austin, there is a ranch that holds the grounds capable to host such an event. We are looking forward to more information and better pictures about Reveille Peak Ranch but from what their website says, the ranch is used for mountain biking and has a shooting range.

Tickets go on sale very soon, this Thursday (6/18) at 10am CT and the package deals are amazing! You can choose various options of camping, glamping, RV, and even hotel packages! Considering this is a 4 day festival during an epic occasion like this, the prices are not bad. Check out their flyer below for an idea of the prices they will be starting with!

The lineup is not out yet and honestly, we have a feeling it won’t be out for a good couple of months. This festival is about the lineup. It’s about the experience and from all of the organizers who are helping out with this festival, it is sure to be a one of a kind lineup. So much culture from around the world tagged along side with one of the hottest concert and festival producers in the nation, Disco Donnie… we just can’t even put together what kind of jaw dropping lineup of artists this will bring. Get ready for one of the most unique gatherings in our lifetime and snag tickets when they become available! They might go in tiers and have weeks of no ticket buying in between (if they do it the same as what they did for Global Eclipse 2017.)

We did unofficial media at the last gathering, check out our coverage of the event below!

Now, just only mere days away, Sonic Bloom in Colorado is looking towards a beautiful weekend with the creek running nice and full, a lineup packed full diverse and mind-blowing music, and another year of BLOOMIN’ Vibes! They put out set times which can be seen at the bottom of this article but first, our last stretch of “The Road to Sonic Bloom.” Rocketing to the top of the EDM scene, the Mississippi-born dubstep producer, podcaster, and comedian TVBOO (Mitch Draper) is going in deep at the Unified Field with two performances. Through his widely known bass music, which at Sonic Bloom on the Meadow stage is sure to be deep and filthy and with a recently announced Mitch & Friends Comedy Hour (with Austin Langley & Tommy O’Nell), which is sure to be, in a way, even ‘deeper and filthier.’ We got the most excellent opportunity to hit TVBOO up with some questions and go into detail about who he is and what he has to offer. Check out more with our exclusive Chronic Interview below!

Sonic Bloom 2023 Ticket Link

  1. Let’s start by saying a TVBOO set is a flurry of raw energy presented with well-crafted deep basslines and rambunctious vocal samples. It screams “Party! Party! Party!” in a let-yourself-lose kind of way, with the legend himself often stripping down to American flag boxers and guzzling PBRs in front of the crowd. With an energy so infectious, TVBOO can give yourself an introduction? From your persona, cover art, eventual PBR sponsorship, and musical identity. In your words, who the heck is TVBOO?
To me, TVBOO is that wild person you knew growing up. Someone who is always down for a good time. TVBOO is the side chick in the relationship. I’m not someone you take home to introduce to your parents. I’m the guy you need to away to get dirty and have a good time.

  2. You’re known for your disgusting breakdowns and drops. From the wompy fan-favorite “Wook Worm ” which has made the rounds through the scene, to the nostalgic plummeting grime of “Goku” and more. You have a hell of an ear for bass. Did this come from your background as a drummer? Did you have a plan or music direction in mind when you first started your TVBOO project?
I 100% think that my drumming background helped with my music production. I had no idea what I was gonna make when I started but luckily I had a background in music so I at least had a good starting point.

  3. You’re a man with his hand in many pies (*ahem*). You’re not only a successful bass artist and producer, but also a comedian and podcaster as well. Your show, TVLKS with TVBOO, has seen you talking with the figureheads and titans of the EDM scene such as Boogie T, GRiZ, Subtronics, MUST DIE!, Liquid Stranger, and far too many other amazing artists to name. How do you balance your time between each of your professions and interests? And do you find that doing one activity helps you do the others? Or does it become hard to focus at times?
The balance isn’t as hard as everything thinks but that’s because I love doing it. If you love doing something you will make time for it. Luckily it’s impossible to work on music 24/7 so the podcast and comedy are the best breaks from music I could ask for. I feel like I have a good schedule so I can do all the things I enjoy doing. Sure there’s sometimes where I gotta stop working on music to go edit a podcast or go to a comedy club but everytime I do that I feel more refreshed going back into the studio because I just did something really fun.

  4. TVBOO TVLKS w/ Wakaan’s Head honcho – Liquid Stranger

Going off about the podcast more, how do you choose your roster of interviews? From big name artists to small and up & coming names, do you reach out or do they?
In the beginning it was me just reaching out and hoping they’d wanna come on. Now it’s still mostly like that but the show is a bit more established and is something artists know about so I get reached out to every now and then. It’s gotten a little easier getting guests but I still get turned down weekly.

  5. You’ve taken some time to do song collabs with more than a few artists. “I Gotta Feeling w/SoDown” and “MaryWana w/ bawldy feat. Boogie T” are a couple instant classics that every listener should seek out. Out of the numerous collabs you’ve done so far, who’s been the most electric artist to work with? One that you have an incredible energy with during the creative process? And if you could work with anyone new in the industry, who would you choose to work with next?
Honestly that collaboration with SoDown had a super fun process. I think out of all the collabs that one really showcases two artists sounds the best. It started with me with a guitar and him with a sax and birthed into this incredible. And as far as who in dance music I really wanna work with, it’s happening right now so keep your eyes peeled for that 😉

  6. We heard that you are roommates with Space Wizard. How does the chemistry between you two flow in the creative workspace? (We love the new collab between you two!)
We actually don’t live together anymore but that collab came about because I was working on something and came in the room and said it sounded sick. I didn’t think so and said I was gonna delete it and he talked me out of it and pulled up a chair and we finished it together. If it wasn’t for him that song would’ve been deleted.

  7. When was the first you heard of Sonic Bloom? What is something about the festival that caught your attention?
I heard about it when I moved to CO last year. I heard it’s a giant homie fest and they do a great job booking the “undercard” on the festival so I’m excited to check it out.

  8. Sonic Bloom is one of the most collaborative and creative festivals out there. Live painting is one of the mediums you see spread throughout the grounds. If you were to commission a festival ‘Wook’ style portrait of yourself, how would you want it to be brought to life? Watercolor? Spray paint? Artist’s choice? What action or pose would you be doing, if any?
I’d want it to be state fair style with my head really big. Something as silly as possible.

  9. The Comedy Hour you’re bringing to Sonic Bloom this year is sure to stir up the flavor of the Unified Field. Accompanying you are a few friends and comedians. Can you give us the low-down of who will be joining the set? And what we can expect from the whole shebang?
The comedy set is exactly what it says it is. Pure standup comedy. It’s gonna be raw, reckless, and tons of fun. So I’m bringing some folks that I think will do a great job giving people real standup. Austin is the host and operator on Denver’s Roast Battles and he does incredible crowd work so I’m excited for him to roast the fuck out some wooks. Tommy has just wild energy. He reminds me of a young Bill Burr and I can’t wait for him to snap on stage. It’s gonna be a blast.

  10. Colorado camping is said to be very different than Mississippi camping. Being Colorado local, we have a pretty good idea of what to expect for weather conditions at Bloom being; a high chance of gnarly wind gusts scattered throughout the weekend along with the chance of rain. (Colorado is now in El Niño which has high precipitation & Bloom has seen some epic storms in the past. So bring your tent stakes and ponchos, y’all.) But I want to know more about Mississippi. Any tips to prepare a campsite down there? What wildlife would be something to look out for?
Camping in the south ain’t for the weak. It’s gonna be hot, humid, and TONS of mosquitos.

  11. Festival food plays a huge role when attending. Do you have a favorite food truck food or do you prefer to cook back at camp? In Mississippi, what’s the food of choice when camping down in ‘dem woods? And is there anything that smacks differently when drinking PBR?
When I’d go camping back home we’d catch our food. So whether that’s hunting or fishing, that’s usually how we ate. I don’t trust a lot of food trucks so I’ll usually just get some pizza cuz it’s hard to mess that up.

  12. Last question, so we’ll make it a fun one. If you could do an extreme sport like Paragliding, bungee jumping, skydiving, bull riding, etc. for the first time, what would you do? Do you have a good idea of where you would like to do that activity?
I wanna go skydiving. IDGAF where I’m at I just wanna do it.

Coming in hot from the Local news in Denver, the renowned and rather popular venue, 1st Bank Center, has been voted to close the doors permanently by November 30th this year and to be torn down and Demo’d by next year. THIS IS HUGE. A massive attraction that not only brings in multitudes of artists and bands but as well as other events, has been opted out and the music scene in the Mile High will be affected. From 9News, “City council said the 6,500-seat event center never reached its full potential in hosting sporting events, concerts and other events since opening in late 2006. The arena never made a profit, city council members said Tuesday night.” Despite selling out multiple electronic music events, the venue was booked to be doomed. Read more in the 9News article below. Some of our favorite moments from the 1st Bank Center were in the earlier days with Grizmatik in 2013, the multiple Excision runs, Zeds Dead, and then the recent Ganja White Night, two night run. We wish we could have seen the spectacle of The String Cheese Incident bringing in the new year there. But now with that venue gone, the options change and we are here to see what will happen.

Sonic Bloom is quickly coming up with less than a month to go until we gather at the Unified Field for a magical experience unlike any other! This festival is Colorado’s biggest electronic music camping festival and it has quite the selection for music, arts, and community workshops. Being Colorado’s Premier electronic festival, Sonic Bloom has brought in a plethora of diverse musicians and producers that bring in their own – distinct – vibe and make for a performance of a lifetime at this small local festival. Having the founders of this festival be musicians and apart of a experimental improv band called Zilla (composed of Michael Travis / Aaron Holstein / Jamie Janover,) this festival truly holds a high standard to bringing quality artists that really rock the grounds! The Road to Sonic Bloom continues and even though the end is sight, we still have so much more to do along the way. One of the artists that we are way hyped for, Late Night Radio, is a Denver based funky producer who has truly become a staple to the scene out here in Colorado. He has been one of the leading artists breaking grounds and pushing the envelope deeper into funkier electronic sounds. This is will be his third year at the Unified Field and we couldn’t be more stoked for his set and to have been able to sit down with him for a quick interview. Check out our Chronic Exclusive, Road To Sonic Bloom interview with the one, the only, Late Night Radio! Don’t forget to snag some tickets if you haven’t yet with the link below and be sure to check out his most recent release with Michal Menert, ‘Emerald City’.

1. Alex Medellin, aka the smooth and funky bass producer Late Night Radio first started crafting music around 2010 for ski resorts in California. Sticking to providing music for commercials, web videos, and online posts for a few years, you moved out to Colorado jumping at the opportunity to play live shows and strut your stuff in front of a crowd. Tell me, do you remember your first live set? Where was it and how was the turnout? And how were your nerves?

My first live set was at a house party for Halloween in I think 2012 and then I played a number of times at The Goose in Boulder before touching a real stage. Turnouts were terrible. I was also playing all original sets from the get go so my mixes sounded like shit compared to the college djs playing bangers before and after me. I wouldn’t trade those shows for anything though because I believe that struggle builds character. I also met Robotic Pirate Monkey and Kevin Donohue and some of those early shows which both had less than 10 people there.

2. There’s plenty of lessons that can be learned from taking a leap to pursue your passions. You took a leap from one state to another, leaving behind one life in order to start a new one. What would you say was the most important lesson you learned from making that change?

Put yourself in positions to succeed and be ready to capitalize when you do have an opportunity. Also for better or worse don’t have a plan b.

3. You’ve been playing live shows for a handful of years now. There are countless up-and-coming artists who are taking their first steps to bring their unique ideas and sounds to the world stage. What would you say to aspiring artists doing everything they can to follow the same path you’ve been on these past several years?

Appreciate the ups and learn from the downs. Its a marathon not a sprint so be genuine to what you do and don’t worry if you don’t blow up overnight.

4. Working on new music is a fun but time-consuming and sometimes daunting task. Can you tell us a little bit about your creative process? How do you typically start when constructing a new song? Which instruments, programs, and/or plugins are your favorite at the moment?

I don’t really have an all encompassing formula but generally I dig through records until something really connects with me. I’m a sucker for Rhodes, mess around in Ableton, and plug in wise nothing crazy.

5. This year you’re playing at Sonic Bloom. I understand it’s a couple months out, but I have to ask: Have you put any thought into what fans can expect from your set? I’m particularly interested in if you have plans to incorporate any new or unreleased tracks that you currently have in the works.

I’ve been on the road pretty hard this spring and haven’t had much time to write so I’m excited to finish some new tunes in between Summer Camp and Sonic Bloom so I’ll have a couple tricks up my sleeve. Also I always have at least 15 minutes of unreleased tunes in my set to keep things interesting.

6. Of the festivals and shows you’ve played in the past, which one is particularly special to you?

Playing Red Rocks with Thievery Corporation and Emancipator was definitely one of my fondest memories playing music but honestly my 2 night run at Cervantes a couple months ago has to be my favorite weekend of shows I’ve ever done. Top to bottom it was all friends involved from production and photo to every artist on the bill so that weekend felt really special.

7. I’m sure like most of us who have been to an EDM event, you’ve witnessed an outlandish, wild occurrence or two. Can you give us an example of a festival experience that has stuck with you? Something you wouldn’t have seen anywhere else?

Hahaha this was before I was playing music but in highschool I went to see SCI in Austin and ended up smoking a blunt with a mime, while tripping mushrooms hanging out in a tree in the rain. So that was one I probably won’t forget.

8. A crowd’s reaction is a big part of how artists typically judge the quality of their new tracks. Has there been a time where a crowd’s reaction surprised you in a good way? Where a song you’ve played, whether one of your own tracks or one of an accompanying artist, made a crowd go wild unexpectedly?

Debuting my soulful disco stuff went over a lot better than I expected. I made the tunes kinda messing around and now get requests for them all the time.

9. What else do you have in store for 2023 and beyond? And what social media platform is the best way to listen to your mixes, new releases, and find out information on your upcoming shows and events?

I’ve got a decent amount of festivals coming up, a full length album I’m wrapping up, fall tour we’re working on and some dope collars. Really just trying to stay busy and keep doing my thing.

10. Last question from us at The Chronic Electronic. What would you like to say to all your listeners and fans, as well as the EDM community as a whole? Give us some driving words, maybe some words of  wisdom, to leave us on a good note and get us hyped up for your highly anticipated set at Sonic Bloom 2023!

Going to steal this one from my dude Michal Menert who is a bit more eloquent than I am, but I couldn’t sum it up any better. From the bottom of my heart thank you for making my life fun.

Atop the Ozark mountains in Arkansas, Backwoods Music Festival took over 4/20 weekend with a spectacular lineup of artists, vendors, workshops, and the best of vibes within the community. For their 4th year at Mulberry Mountain, Backwoods had taken over one of the most renowned outdoor music venues in the United States and in doing so curated one of the most unique weekends for festival goers. As always, Backwoods meshes electronic music artists alongside with instrumental jam bands with all types of genres that all ‘n all embodies a true vibe for a music festival! We were fortunate enough to be brought out for a crazy weekend of media coverage. Dive deep into our review of the 4/20 weekend with photos and videos to make it feel like as if you were there!

Kicking off the festival weekend with setting up camp in a pretty consistent rainstorm made for quite the kickstart to the festivities. Being from Colorado, the amount of rain was a big enough concern to deter me away from busting out the camera with the consistent downfall. But truthfully, that made for a proper festival experience and was one of the better moments from the weekend. With that weather being as wet and chilly as it was, being dressed appropriately definitely made for an enjoyable and one of a kind time. After setting up camp and relaxing a bit with the drizzle, we went into the festival and first hit up some food vendors to fuel up for the night. The food varied greatly from various Asian-fusion vendors, pizza, bbq, and soul comfort but what was calling the most for the night was classic chicken tenders and fries. After scarfing down the warm food underneath a vendor’s tent for shelter, we were drawn to the nearby Space Disco stage with the thumping bass from Spicy Bois artist, Psyoptic. Coming up to that stage, the grounds were littered with odd yet very fitting art installation pieces that could easily distract a wandering brain to fulfill their time with exploration. Once we got to the stage it was nothing but good vibes and heavy bass with people of all types getting down in the rain and mud. Because of the rainstorm, multiple delays and even cancelations had happened throughout the night. Thankfully most of the artists were able to still perform and even Psyoptic was granted with a very lengthy set but in-turn one of my most anticipated artists, One True God, did not show, which was rather unfortunate because the following day was his debut album release. Again though, that made for an interesting night, as Colorado bass artist, SoDown had taken over the Space Disco for a ridiculously heavy set that combined both live saxophone and insane sound production.

@SoDown brought some heavy vibes to @Backwoods at Mulberry Mountain 🔥🤌

The bass heavy set from SoDown led perfectly into one of the most sought out bass artists, Boogie T, who was set to annihilate the main stage for one of the headlining spots. Rain was still a factor so no camera was out, but that made for such an epic time to get down and wobbley. This set from Boogie T was particularly a special one with the majority of his set being 4/20 themed as he was the last set to see officially on the stoners holiday. He threw down all of his cannabis songs within the first hour and he had actually forgot how long is set time was and when he was told he had an extra 30 minutes… it was no holding back for him! The man went off with insane mixing and mashups of unreleased bangers, classics of his, and some other dope songs from DramaClubRecords & his friends. It was bonkers and unquestionably ne of our favorite sets from the weekend! Check out this video of his set below with an interesting take on Jack Black’s iconic voice samples.

Big Gigantic followed up the intensely rowdy set of Boogie T to end out the main stage and their live take with EDM is just something spectacular. The duo have been changing up the scene for over 10 years now and their performance at Backwoods was just an ideal Big G set. Their performance was packed full with top value production from amazing visuals to playing out all their big songs meshed with some dance filled vibey songs, Big G catered to the crowd and to 4/20 and in doing so made for another memorable performance from the festival. The night was not close to being over though. Even on a Thursday, the late night sets were popping, especially from Arkansas local, Flintwick who had a booking from 2am to 3 where he absolutely popped off on the Space Disco stage. After driving from Colorado to the festival and experiencing Tornado capable weather, we had called it an early night half way through his set, but the festival was very much alive.

Friday came up with haste and before we knew it, it was mid day and lunch was calling. I had some time to cook up bratwurst that we had packed and with the food in hand, we had traveled the grounds during the peak of day to get a firm grasp on the grounds and see what Backwoods had to offer. Wandering from the campgrounds to the Backwoods stage, where locals and smaller acts play (as well as Silent disco to end the night in the early AM hours,) we had encountered multiple campsites with lush smiles, poppin’ bottles and activities to keep them busy throughout the day. Within the distance from the backwoods stage to the Space Disco, the road had vendors of all types lined up along side with workshops scattered in the forest across from them. Having this much to see made the short distance traveled last a few hours. Vendors ranged from all types of hippie and raver clothing to unique flow toys, jewelry, accessories of all types, gems & minerals, spices and healthcare, and even jerky! The amount of vendors truly was a positive compared to some other festivals and the way they had it set up made it basically one long ‘Shakedown Street’ where the festivals mainly commutes through to go from stage to stage.

Later on in the day, after exploring the vendors & workshops and getting to recoup some energy back at camp, an up & coming bass artist was about to take over the Space Disco and it was one not to miss. Space Bass is coming into the scene hot and even though he may have been a new name to me, he had quite the group of homies decked out in his merch supporting him. It was quite the sight to see honestly and in that, it made for one of the most memorable sets of the weekend. Everyone was just getting down and the style of bass music was just next level, with insane music production and mixing skills, he had everyone sucked into his set and it had, in my eyes kicked off the night. Without a doubt, he is a ‘Chronic artist’ to watch out for with his rise within the scene.

Shortly after Space Bass, a trance DJ was set to take over the main stage. Mau5trap artist, Morgin Madison, brought a one of a kind set to Backwoods as he was the only one to offer the sounds of Trance. His set was on the main stage as the Space Disco stage was set for heavy bass music for the night, Morgin’s vibe fit in perfectly at the main stage. He was followed up with another artist who also brought a one of a kind performance. A U.K based producer, Koan Sound, who’s second half is still residing in the U.K., had offered some of the best Drum and Bass sounds possible to the crowd of Backwoods. Koan Sound has always had an interesting take on the genre and with their ‘natural’ sounds that pop, crunch, and crinkle, they had found their iconic sound very early on and have been one of the must see’s for DnB heads for years since! This was the last of electronic music on the main stage but not for the night. During Koan Sound’s set they had booked another wobbley dubstep artist on the Space Disco stage and he had 30 minutes still to play after Koan Sounds, so I made sure to hustle to Dirt Monkey for a half hour of carnage through wobbles.

After the chaos from Dirt Monkey, Backwoods Music Festival practically took a chill pill for 3 hours with jam bands that took over the main stage. Lettuce was the headliner for the night and had packed the main stage out! Not only was the main area poppin’ but Backwoods had set up the RV campsites in perfect view around the entrance to the festival. The whole festival grounds was able to hear the lush jams from Lettuce and it was truly a spectacle seeing people get down to them all over the grounds. Being a headliner on the main stage they had their time slot go until 2 am and that is when the bass kicked back in. For the late night set, one of the bigger EDM producers on the lineup had Backwoods tight within his grasp. Apashe, a Belgian born, Canadian based producer that has truly impacted the scene with his immaculate twist on EDM by blending in classical music to his rowdy production. His set was quite diverse from house music, to moombahton, and of course trap and dub. Apashe had hit all of the cues for a one of a kind set and it turned out for a straight packed set even for being after-hours.

Leading later on into the early hours, the Backwoods tent transformed into a silent disco where three different channels offered huge varieties in music and also gave smaller, more local producers a chance to play out their music. On Friday night, Pinneapplebeatz, Guero and Oreoku were taking over the channels, but one in particular really stood out as practically the whole tent was headbanging to his music! Oreoku was throwing down insane beats and rowdy bass and that made for him to be jumping all over the place with dance moves. A definite must see again and an artist to watch out for on their rise!

Saturday rolled around and it was another vendor day full with food trips and chill vibes. We had ventured to an Asian-Mexican fusion vendor where we got Korean BBQ Nachos and three Barbacoa tacos. Of course the one drizzle of rain happened to come at this moment so the camera didn’t eat first but rest assured, that was hands down the best meal of the weekend. During the heat of the day, the Space Disco stage still held strong with throwing down wonky bass and giving smaller artists a chance to throw the f-down. One of the notable performances was from Baelien, who had a set that was primarily experimental bass music. Throughout her set, she had thrown down multiple songs of hers, including a couple unreleased and with her sound design and ease with performing live, she definitely is a CHRONIC artist to watch out for!

For a second time, Arkansas local Flintwick had a big time slot performance, but this time he was at the main stage from 6:15 to 7:15. His experimental take on glitch hop, half time, and just wonky bass music made his set to be an absolute banger! It was early enough on in the day where the stage was still filling in and by the end of his set he had a pretty packed out crowd that was geeking out to his intricate sound design.

Eventually, the main headliner of the night and perhaps the festival had started their run of 3 back to back sets. Kicking it off on the main stage, The String Cheese Incident didn’t hold back and offered quite the performance that dabbled in all styles of jam. That is what they are absolutely fantastic at and with them having two sets on the main stage it really gave them ample time to really get loose and weird with it! As any festival goes though, they have to have some musical competition to divide up the crowd and during the intermission and first 30 minutes of the second set; Backwoods had booked quite possibly the most followed ‘TikTok’ EDM producer (who has even more followers than Rezz,) and one of the hottest up & coming artists’ in the scene… None other than Zingara. This ever so popular artist on TikTok blew up with her bright energy, goofy vibes, and overall, her amazing talent on music production. Even though she is up and coming in the scene, she already has her distinct sound and because of that it wont be long until she will reach big headliner status and so for her set to be at the Space Disco at 11 on a Saturday night…well lets just say it was absolutely BONKERS! She threw down nearly all of her songs, some in VIP along with plenty of other new music from friends and peers that made for her set to be vastly different from the previous performances I had recently witnessed. She was ready to end her set due to the time, but with how Backwoods scheduled the stages, there was no artist booked for another 2 hours on that stage and so with the clear from the stage manager, Zingara played an encore that consisted of an unreleased song. Check it out below and be sure to catch her sometime as she is absolutely a chronic artist to watch out for!!!

The String Cheese Incident has a rather large band with multiple instruments and the take-down for this had gone a little bit longer than planned and in that had caused a shortened set for one of the headlining EDM acts, Of the Trees. Unfortunately the set breakdown impacted his set because regardless of what happened, main stage music had to end at 2 and so he had nearly a 30 minute set. Fortunately, Tisoki, who was booked to play from 2am to 3 had heard news of this and had offered his set to become a back to back (b2b) with Of the Trees that came to be one of the most unique sets to happen that weekend. The clash of spacey experimental trap music with heavier European style dubstep/ DnB created a b2b that no one had ever thought of. For going off a ‘whim’, the two really made the best out of the situation and gave the fans an exhilarating and impressive set that really made the crowd move! And of course, the stage was absolutely packed out, even more so than the night before. At this time the Taco Party from String Cheese incident was supposed to be going on, but from reports, it had gotten moved to Sunday for a day-time set. Undoubtedly once the late night partiers found  out the Space Disco stage got flooded with music eager fans. The back to back sadly didn’t go on for an extended time but for the time slot they had, it was a party that became one of the most memorable moments from the weekend. Officially on the schedule after Tisoki, the stage was supposed to be finished but they had a surprise guest, wolf-e-wolf who kept the late night vibes going for another solid hour. Being on Dirt Monkey’s record label, he had a similar style to Dirt Monkey’s wonkyness, but he kept it a bit heavier for this set and the people wanting to go hard.

Sunday had come around with a rather chilly morning that made for snuggles at camp throughout most of the day. We had ventured to grounds to catch a couple anticipated sets but unfortunately some of the artists didn’t make it in. Which honestly just made for another true festival experience of wandering around and discovering what the festival has to offer. At certain times the FrickFrack Blackjack booth was open to offer attendees a chance to gamble away ‘valuables and non valuable’ items of random. It truly ranges in quite a wide range from books, accessories, small gadgets of kids, pointless toys, sexual toys, movies, broken items, and what ever else you can think. They hit the market right for festival activities and are becoming an instant classic to music festivals all around.

All in all, Backwoods Music Festival was an absolutely magical time that brought in some amazing talent, tons of art, and epic vibes. If I were to give any criticism as an avid festival goer, it would be to bring in more music to overlaps stages more so because sometimes having either just jam-band music or electronic music to listen to was just off. I feel like for any festival, you should be able to go from one stage to another and have music at both (or more if there are more than two.) Past that though, Backwoods had hit everything with a bullseye. The stage production was on point, set up of vendors and bathroom access was with ease, and everyone on the grounds (that we came across at least) was respectable and a good vibe to the festival and community. Overall, I, and the Chronic Electronic would love to come back to celebrate 4/20 again at Mulberry Mountain for Backwoods. Be sure to check out our photo gallery in the link below and if you absolutely loved Backwoods like we did, hop on tickets for next year for an extremely cheap price! Ticket link is below!

The anticipation is surely rising as we are getting closer and closer to celebrating 4/20 on Mulberry mountain in the Ozarks for Backwoods Music Festival! Kicking off on Thursday (4/20) and going until Sunday the 23rd, Backwoods is aiming towards one of their biggest years yet with top of the line production, an artist lineup that is mind-bending, and tons of workshops and sides activities to keep things interesting all day long throughout the weekend! We are stoked to see the set times get released so early, which can be seen below, and with the set times out we put out our Top 8 Artists To Get Your Chronic on at Backwoods Music Festival. There are a plentiful of honorable mentions because truthfully this whole lineup is just gas! Check out our Chronic List and be sure to look at the map to plan your schedule accordingly! Also snag tickets if you have not done so yet with the link below!

8. Big Gigantic

This one is an obvious ‘must’ on our Chronic list. Not only is Big Gigantic a funky duo from Colorado that proudly backs cannabis, but they are set to headline on 4/20! We put out a spotlight on them earlier this year going further in depth of why their performance will be legendary. (Check out the Spotlight article here.) This is honestly massive and quite possibly our most anticipated set to catch but we figured why not start the list off strong and keep it going with must sees that are gonna rock the mountain. Don’t miss Big G as they are set to take over the main stage, Motherland, from 12:30am to 2:00am.

7. Spankalicious

Now isnt this one a doozy?! Spankalicious? Yes you read that right! The owners of Backwoods whom are close friends to Spankalicious got him a mainstage slot on Sunday for a proper Sunday evening get down from 6:00pm- 7:00pm. He has been missing in action for the past couple years and with this being his first big set back, we can only expect that the Motherland stage will be blessed with some of the most odd, unique, and wondrous experimental music.

6. The String Cheese Incident

We can’t help our selves but add String Cheese to our list. Of course it should go without a doubt that they would be on here, but we had to reassure. This band is one of the most sought out jam-bands in the world because of the sheer talent and diversity in music. The amount of instruments and musical capability from the musicians is just jaw-dropping, and seeing them for a Saturday Night performance is just the cherry on top. They are booked for three epic sets throughout the Saturday night, with two of them on the main stage from 9:15 to 10:30pm and then 11:00pm to 12:30am with an intimate Taco party set to take over the Backroads stage from 2:00am to 3:00. It will surely be an emotional night as they pay tribute to the recently late Chuck Morris from the band Lotus and his son Charley.

5. Zingara

One artist to look out for is Zingara. She has been blowing up recently and is rather ‘Tik Tok’ famous. Her insane sound design combined with her smart and interesting social media pressence has made for her to e one of the hottest up & coming artists to see in our scene. When I say this I don’t mean it lightly, she is on route to being a headliner of major caliber (to the likes of Rezz or CloZee in our opinion) and to catch her at a festival performance like this will be a once in a lifetime type of event that we can’t miss out on. Be sure to check out her much anticipated set in-between the two headlining String Cheese Incident sets, Saturday night at 10pm to 11 at the Space Disco.

4. One True God

Thursday is honestly pretty stacked with acts that we can’t wait to see! One of them is happening right as the evening is taking place transitioning into night fall and it’ll be perfect environment for his type of music. One True God will be bringing a one of a kind sound to this festival and for that we ‘praise him.’ This producer is a heavy bass mid-tempo / trap artist who blends in house vibes as well. He has a dark melody and distinguishing sound to his grimey bass. He will be taking over the Space Disco from 8 to 9pm Thursday Night, be sure to get your party started early with this highly anticipated and high energy artist.

3. Apashe

We have been following the project behind Apashe for nearly 10 years now and to see his path along this journey has been nothing but spectacular. He has really focused in on his sound design and performance mastering instrumental sound with his wordly trap sound. He has even been working with an orchestra to really portray and bring his project to life. While he wont have the live act at Backwoods, he does have an INSANE time slot with the booking being ‘Friday night’ from 2 to 3:30am, closing out the Space Disco Stage after the main stage has closed. Prepare for a gnarly party with this one and be sure to show up early to really experience the set!

2. Flintwick

This is going to be easily one of our most anticipated sets to see at Backwoods and thankfully we get a double dose of it. Coming in hot and local, Flintwick is set to take over late night hours of the Space disco stage on 4/20 from 2 to 3:30am and the mainstage on Saturday from 6:15 to 7:15pm. We also did a spotlight article on this artist, (that can be checked out here,) and we couldn’t be more stoked for him to be on our Chronic list. Flintwick will be another artist in a sense that is bringing a very distinct sound with a genre that isn’t being played out by any one else on the bill. He offers a psychedelic type of bass music that dabbles between glitchy trip hop and wonky weird shit. It will be the performances where you wanna pashmina up and get the funk down! We can’t wait to see what this Arkansas local has in store!

1. Koan Sound

Last but not least, some high-school hero’s of mine, Koan Sound. An artist that I’ve been listening to for years and one that has been a huge inspiration to us at the Chronic Electronic. A duo coming out of Bristol, UK that have been making music sense they were in high school together. They have put out various EP’s and albums that have compiled together for quite the diverse taste in genres. Their music spans from fast paced Drum and bass with variants like nu-bass and neurofunk to funky and glitchy experimental get downs to even distant and hypnotic musical soundscapes that induces you into a downtempo state of trance. Because of this, they will be an artist that will offer a one of a kind performance for Backwoods attendees and with this set booked to be on the main stage Friday night from 9pm to 10, we absolutely can’t wait to see what they have in store and what kind of live performance we will get blessed with!
