Ankou Takes It Dark in New EP “Artificial Intelligence” [EP REVIEW]

Ankou has burst into the scene showing the world his dark and heavy take on drum and bass. We began paying close attention to Ankou after having released tracks on the highly notable labels such as Renraku, Sound Museum, VALE, and Culprate’s Open Outlets. Also, his track “Heretic” was played on Noisia Radio’s episode co-hosted by Skrillex and Sevdaliza. Any time an artist is featured on Noisia Radio it is a surefire indication of an artist’s ability.  His most recent EP “Artificial Intelligence” released on The Rust Music absolutely solidifies this young producers talent in the drum and bass realm. Eerie synths and heavy basslines teleport the mind to a dark yet very enjoyable space.

While the entire EP is absolutely fantastic there were a few songs that truly stood out to us. First, the title track “Artificial Intelligence” really grabbed our attention. The track begins with a long immersive intro, which sets the listener up for catastrophic mayhem on the drop. This is the type of song that makes you question reality as you begin to transition into the next track.  Next, “Morgue” is my personal favorite track on the EP. This song brings a more rhythmic approach with a haunting horn-like synth that really highlights Ankou’s dark style. Overall, we are extremely pleased with this release from Ankou and can not wait to hear more from the young growing producer. Special shoutout to The Rust Music for premiering this wonderful EP and pushing the boundaries for upcoming artists.
