Supernatural Festival: Colorado’s Top Dance Halloween Costume Party REVIEW w/ Photo & Video

Global Dance continuously brings packed events with some of the biggest names in the industry throwing down epic performances on GNARLY production! This year, Global Dance had decided to put to rest Hallowfreak’n’ween after several years of ghouling performances and unforgettable memories. It was all for the best though, with the death of H.F.W., came the birth of something new, Supernatural Festival. With the name change came bigger production and names. For the debut year and it being held at Denver’s National Western Complex, the outcome was incredible! The diverse lineup ranged from Audien, Ferry Corsten, Alesso and more on the main stage, Immortal Arena. The second main stage, the Resurrection Chamber held bass heavy names such as Danger, Terravita, BTSM, Infected Mushroom and more. On top of that, Global Dance always has an amazing feature where they bring tons of local talent with all types of musical variety to fill up several stages at their festivals to make it have that true festival vibe. There were 6 other themed stages to get lost at and to get your groove on.

Both the main stages start off with some of the bigger local names, T.O.C., a dubstep fanatic kick-started the festival in the Resurrection Chamber, setting the vibe high for the dank heavy bass. (You can view the map of the event here.) As the people were settling in and filling the place up, I had the urge to check out the other stages as the locals threw down multiples styles of music. One of the stages, The Hall of Nightmares had the locals throwing down hardstyle, a genre that not many main stream artists bring. Experiencing that and then being able to float off to the main stage where within an hour and a half of opening the doors, Audien had taken the stage. The ability of being able to go from stage to stage with an easy layout and very little…to no noise conflict is an experience in and of it’s self! Adding in the halloween vibe with decorations scattered all over the place and people with extravagant costumes just brings that experience so much higher! Even one of the artists, Danger, a dark and deep electro producer from France, had an interesting get up that just made the Supernatural adventure that much more exhilarating.

From a dark electro vibe to two Trance legends, Martin Solveig and Ferry Corsten, Global Dance had hit the bullseye with this amazing selection of artists.  Following the beautiful yet halloween themed trance, Carnage took the mainstage…and surprisingly, he catered to the crowd. In the 5 minutes that I was there, he threw down several deep house tracks which totally took me by surprise. But I was getting ready for Church, so I decided to warm up to a dubstep mastermind, Terravita, who indeed did have a special performance for the Bass Capital.

Following that mayhem started my religious ceremony. Pastors Black Tiger Sex Machine, took the Resurrection Chamber to ‘the Grave’ as the trio took us on a musical journey. Grazing between heavy electro, bass house, drum and bass, dubstep, and every other heavy bass that you can think of, BTSM will always play out a live performance that is always different than the last. A must see if you somehow missed them at this event. With every show put on from them being a guaranteed gnarly time, they cater to the vibe of the crowd and consistently change it up. Because of this, their performance at Supernatural Fest was just next level. Check out this bass heavy clip with a hint of spooky vibes to make it match that Supernatural feel.

After a much needed Church session, the dosing of Infected Mushroom took place with an ever so unique intro that led them into an hour of practically all heavy psy-trance music. The way they started off their set is what set the vibe for the rest of their gnarly performance too. Coming from Israel, a region in the world where Psy-Trance is a dominant music choice for many, Infected Mushroom had brought with them some tunes that we rarely get to hear live. The psytrance was nothing but a party. Check out a gnarly Psy-trance remix of one of the most influential rock bands in the recent generations, System of a Down (below). It was hard peeling my self away from that, but with Alesso hitting Denver at a Halloween massive, I had to check out the legend. Nothing but clean transitions and the best of vibes. While it was beautiful and a party, I had just a natural connection to the fast paced and bass heavy psy-trance music from the iconic Infected Mushroom. (I have personally been listening to them since 2008 ish and have been a fan ever since and its funny because first time I saw Infected Mushroom, it was their Live Band at Global Dance Festival in 2014. The difference in the two performances are night and day.)

Global Dance never fails to throw down a rather proper party. If you haven’t attend one of their massive’s, then it should most definitely be on your to do list. With nothing but good vibes from the crowd, amazing music selection, multiple stages, dank audio and visuals, and consistently an excellent execution on the production, Global Dance always brings some of the biggest parties to Colorado!
