Infrasound Music Festival Continues To Hold One of the Best Line Ups of the Summer

Infrasound Music Festival has held a rather glorious reputation of booking talented artists year in and year out. For their 5th year anniversary this year, they are not holding back and are aiming at making this their biggest year yet! Check out one of the summer’s best festival lineups posted above if you haven’t seen it yet!

Even though this is their first year without the infamous Dave Tipper playing, they have an incredibly diverse lineup booked that makes up for that slot. One of the ways that they are achieving that is by bringing in what some call, “The Gods of Drum and Bass.” NOISIA. The trio from the Netherlands will be headlining Infrasound and doing what they do best, playing the best of DnB and break beat songs. Their distinct sound is going to be insanely crisp on the main stage because this year they are filling every stage with the world renowned Funktion One sound system. But that’s not all! The main stage is going to sound even more clear than the others because the Funktion One: Vero sound system will be featured there with a brand new version with 32″ subwoofers. (The Funktion One: Vero debuted at Infrasound Equinox last year.) Having these speakers fill every stage is going to make the experience so much more notable and clear. The Funktion Ones pride themselves in how clear the audio is projected. Every sample put into a song can be heard with perfection. The bass doesn’t drown out any of the music, even in the front row. Infrasound is an electronic music festival and all the artists will match the sound system perfectly. There are tons of talented artists that help make this line up so incredible. Practically the whole line up is filled with notable musicians and producers, so the artists that I am selecting in the next paragraphs are either my favorite to see live, to listen too, or I have had such amazing reviews from my peers and friends that they had to be noted! In addition to that if you really want to discover the music that Infrasound has booked, listen to my playlist that I posted on the bottom of this webpage (or click this link here.)

Another headliner booked that makes this lineup that much more different and exotic than the others, is Shpongle with his (Raja Ram DJ set.) Lets be honest, Shpongle (Simon Posford DJ set) has been booked at multiple events and festivals across the country this year. But have you seen a Raja Ram DJ set? Raja Ram is a brilliant minded man that helped shape the sounds of Shpongle. In the songs that have the flute playing, Raja Ram is the one who played that flute in the studio and recorded it. He plays a multitude of instruments but he has mastered the precious harmonies that can be played by the flute. If you have seen this guy (even in videos) his vibe just projects: a psychedelic mind set. In this environment, this set is going to be a must see, especially if it is to be heard on the Funktion Ones. Shpongle’s music has instruments from all over the world throughout their tracks, so hearing each and every note will be crucial and will result with it being one of the best sets of the weekend.

There are multiple artists booked that have two sets, and every one is absolutely amazing. Eoto Suwannee Hulaween 2015Both Eoto and Bogtrotter will be having two sets, one of those sets to be a sunrise downtempo performance. THIS IS MASSIVE! Eoto are two members from The String Cheese Incident that get down playing electronic/jam music. These guys improvise each and every set. You will never hear the same Eoto set twice. They go incredibly hard (for their age and background,) so seeing their stage presence is honestly one of my favorites out of any artist out there. They build and read of each other promptly and in perfection. Not once have I seen them and it not be a party, they use multiple instruments and loop exotic samples that when layered correctly cover multiple genres such as: Progression Jam-Tronica, Dubstep, Drum and Bass (now and then,) Experimental, and Electronic. Seeing how they will bring in a sunrise with a downtemp set will be a one of a kind set and should not be missed! The other sunrise set is by Bogtrotter who is brilliant with his music production and is what I would call a gnarly combination of psy-glitch-bass. His music usually grazes downtempo to experimental wubby liquid like alien sounds. Prepare to blast off to outer space and beyond when he takes over a sunrise set for a special downtempo performance.

Infrasound has two more artists confirmed for two sets during the weekend being Mike Wallis and Ganja White Night. Mike Wallis is a scratch artist and label owner of, Colony Productions based out of London. He is also known by his side project with Tipper named, CRUNCH. Having two sets of this underground scratch music will be a blessing to hear! Also traveling from afar in Europe is Ganja White Night. GanjaWhiteNight PicThey are extremely hyped to be kicking off their tour, “Mr. Wobbles” with their performances at Infrasound. On June 1st they are dropping a new album and so what will be heard at Infrasound is sure to be raw and fresh. Their music can be explained as; raw, deep, vibey…dubstep. Kind of like 2010 style but up to date and filthy, yet chill. They have only performed here in the United States a couple times before, so having this festival performance and tour kick off with that is massive for them! In return they will be providing some crazy music that we wont get to usually hear from other artists because of their culture and where they are from. In addition to that, one of the members from the Ganja White Night duo, Benjamin Bamby, will be apart of the Infrasound All-Stars who also has Russ Liquid and Eoto joining him on stage for an unique, one time performance. This clash of talented musicians and their genres of music will blend together into an exotic harmony that just can’t be missed if you are attending Infrasound. You will not see this kind of performance anywhere else, possibly ever, so why not see some experimental music and see something more rare than the Halley’s comet!

Another reason Infrasound has such a spectacular lineup is because they are booking the best of the best, with the hottest up and coming artists such as Space Jesus or OG electronic music producers such as Orb. Space Jesus @ Euphoria Music Festival 4/8/16Space Jesus is an experimental music producer who’s music best relates to Space Bass. Basically a very creative style of trap/dub like songs that use unique samples and timing. He recently signed over to Wakaan, a record label created by Liquid Stranger and since then his music has been only getting more clear, bass heavy, and getting the crowd hyped up even more so than before. Space Jesus has an ever growing Space Fam and is quickly on his way to being one of the most talked about artists in the scene. On the other hand, Orb is making a return to the US for an awe-inspiring show. Their ambient, chill, dub, techno music will be a perfect fit for the vibe of Infrasound. They were founded in 1988 and have been mastering their music production ever since. Even though they have been in the music scene for a while because they are UK based, their shows in the US are more rare to see than most think. So this performance will be a sure deal for classics, new music, and music we may have never heard before.

The last notable musical artists to mention on this that makes this line up stand out so much, is the Inspected Showcase that Infrasound thankfully booked. Inspected is a record label based out of London and they have notable artists such as Koan Sound and Zeds Dead on their label. But at Infrasound they are hosting an artist showcase with; Inspector, Asa, Sorrow, Skope, and Special Guests. This is quite possibly the highlight of the festival. The showcase presented by Inspected is going to be heavenly with the artists that they chose. Asa and Sorrow have worked together multiple times on songs that are a beautiful mix of Glitch Hop, Chill Garage, and Liquid Drum and Bass. They have played together before too, so it would more then likely happen here.  Also, even though it isn’t on the lineup, I posted a personal status saying how I was stuck on making my playlist during Asa because his music is beautiful. Asa CommentHe commented back with ” I promise that I am preparing something special for both sets… see you there x.” So maybe if he has another set, maybe the other artists on the Inspected showcase do too. Skope has a similar style of production of the two, but it’s more bass heavy. He uses the “slamming woppy” like samples that Koan Sound and Asa use in their songs, but he adds a more heavier tone to it with stronger bass and synths that are straight grime. In some songs he uses string instruments to make the song have a more of a funky sound to it. Who knows, maybe all these artists will have a showcase together. And if they do, that will be the set of the weekend. Not only because of the immense amount of talent on stage but because of the high chances that the special guests will be there with them. Whom ever the special guests are, they are sure to be the perfect addition to the lineup and will be worth the surprise. This showcase is unlike any other record label showcase at any festival this year and will absolutely be a delight to see.

Of course Infrasound has even more performances and talent booked that isn’t music but yet makes this line up one of the best. The headliner for Infrasound’s visionary arts are two of the happiest people on this earth, the beautiful and enlightening Alex & Allyson Grey. The Beautiful Art @ RE:CREATION 12/11/15These two absolutely blossom with their love and energy for each other, the music, the people, the environment, and just about everything you can think of. They are wise souls that do just about everything they can to ensure that they are providing the best experience that they can. I have NEVER seen more humble people than these two. They absolutely love our support and will spend their time to talk to us in detail and give amazing speeches that can completely motivate someones life in the most positive ways. On top of that they are known across the world for their awe-inspiring, absolutely breathtakingly creative, and eye opening art. They have traveled across the world painting at everything from a small run down house that hosted some kind of party to a massive music festival and everywhere in between. Seeing them paint on stage is just magnificent because of their process and mindset. They paint on stage and when doing so, they don’t just focus on the painting, the focus on the environment. Taking everything in and enjoying the moment. That is what makes the experience of seeing them live just that much better. Because they enjoy the music and the vibes just as much as anyone in the crowd. So seeing them paint some ground breaking art while getting down to some groovy electronic music fills my heart with warmth and is a major reason to why this lineup is intensely stacked.

The visual arts isn’t just limited to Alex and Allyson Grey. They are bringing in multiple amounts of live painters, such as Aaron Brooks, to be posted up around the festival grounds throughout the weekend. Worth checking out for sure! In addition to that one of the best and well known “VJs” will be performing during multiple artists sets projecting his art on stage. More then likely on main stage, Jonathan Singer will be projecting immersive geometric shapes and stars that blend together flawlessly to match the music.

Lastly, even though it doesn’t effect the line up that much, it is still to be noted that Infrasound has changed locations! From what I have heard this new location is in a prime spot with amazing scenery and forestry all around it. I think this is in perfect timing for the festival because new grounds mean new vibes. That will match this year perfectly because they don’t have the same headliner as previous years. That and being on new grounds with an out of this world line up, the energy there will be fresh and in result everyone will be in for a treat because… no one really knows what to expect. Yet all together, all these factors and talented artists and musicians is what makes it one of the best festival line ups of the summer! But I do have to say this, over everything I listed…this is what makes the festival so damn amazing… that if it wasn’t for Infrasound being a privately owned festival, they probably wouldn’t of had such an amazing lineup. So kudos and much love to the hard working people putting Infrasound together for people to gather from all over the continent  to listen to RAW music. Because of them we get to experience one of the most diverse, talented, grimey, experimental, heavenly, and electric music festivals out there. Enjoy your favorite artists but don’t forget to discover new music!
