Artist Profile: MiMOSA

Heavy bass artist with influences of glitch, trap, dubstep, grime, down-tempo and hip-hop, MiMOSA has been changing the scene up with his unique taste for electronic music for years. Starting out young at age 17 and in the San Francisco bay area, MiMOSA created his name and took the west coast by surprise. It really started getting interesting for him when he moved to Brooklyn, New York where he got to produce, record, and debut his first full length album Sanctuary, in October 2011 on his record label that he founded, False Idol Muzik. The genre difference between the EP 58 Degrees (that came out before Sanctuary) and Sanctuary is noticeably different while both of them still have an original MiMOSA-like sound. On the album Sanctuary he shows that he pulls from a vast range of genres while producing music, and that it all comes together fashionably well. From this album on he has defined his name, with remarkable beats that graze multiple genres and are layered deep, giving his sound a unique MiMOSA style. Since 2011 he has released 4 albums and 1 EP that have had major tracks on it that get played all over the world, meanwhile changing the word Trilogy so that it now defines MiMOSA muzik. One of the more popular tracks is, “Resurrection” off of Future Trill Vol. 2 and that song has become an iconic track to see live during his sets. It starts off with a cinematic feel with raindrops and other ambient sounds that lead into a dark laugh, then the iconic synth sample leads in followed by…”MiMOSA” being looped, building the perfect suspense to the song. Then comes one of the hardest bass lines I have ever heard to lead this song into a perfectly dark, grimey, trap beat. This track kills it live and it’s guaranteed to get the crowd hype as fuck. If you haven’t seen MiMOSA yet, you NEED to see him live, his studio production is amazing, but seeing him throw his music together on stage and vibe out to the crowd is something else…he takes it to the next level. Every time I have see Tigran (MiMOSA) live, it has been an absolute party, he definitely feels out the crowd and puts his full energy and devotion into his set. Check out his soundcloud at Soundcloud.com/Mimosamuzik or check out the links I posted below for his music to some of his Album’s and EP’s. If you want to see a sample of his live sets, check out my personal videos I took when I saw him last. A video I took for my first time seeing MiMOSA at Global Dance Festival at Red Rocks, in Denver CO. He opened with one of my favorites, “Resurrection” off his Album, Future Trill Vol 2.

Another one of my favorites that MiMOSA has produced “Underdog” off of Future Trill Vol. 2, and I saw him throw it down the official SnowBall after party in 2014.
